Many people think there are multiple paths to God and that each religion represents an aspect of truth. But Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me" (John 14:6). The following four points will show you the way to know Jesus Christ personally.
1. BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE A SINNER.
The Bible declares, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Anything you do, think or feel that dishonors God is sin. Because God is holy, your sin brings you under his just judgment. Hebrews 9:27 says, "And it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment."
2. BELIEVE THAT YOU CANNOT SAVE YOURSELF.
Many people have tried to work for their salvation by doing good deeds. But Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches that salvation is a free gift from God and that you cannot earn it by working for it. Others have tried unsuccessfully to invent their own way of salvation.
3. BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS THAT GOD PROVIDED A SAVIOR.
Because of God's amazing love, he gave his Son to be punished in your place (John 3:16). "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18). Christ's death on a cross satisfied the demands of God's justice, thereby enabling him to forgive and save those who place their faith in him. God raised Jesus from the dead as proof that Christ paid your debt in full.
4. BELIEVE IN JESUS.
Believing in Jesus means repenting of sin and trusting in him to save you . Repentance is not just feeling sorry for sin, but turning away from sin in disgust. Trusting is a heart issue. To trust Christ is to treasure him for his death and resurrection (Romans 10:9-10). "Yet to all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12).
Are you willing to entrust yourself to Jesus?
If so, simply speak a prayer admitting your sinfulness, ask God to forgive your sins on the basis of Jesus' death and resurrection, embrace Christ through faith, and you will be saved. "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).
